The city of Beichuan in the Sichuan Province of China was the epicentre of the 2008 earthquake.
Rather than bulldoze the site and rebuild it the Chinese have stabilized the existing buildings but left them virtually as they were folowing the disaster as a memorial to the many thousands who died.
